Grenache has travelled a remarkable journey. Originally from the Aragon region of Spain, the variety was brought to Australia by James Busby in 1832 before finding a natural home in South Australia just a few years later.
Thriving in our warm Mediterranean climate, Grenache quickly became one of Australia's most important grape varieties, playing a vital role in the country's early winemaking history. Although many vineyards disappeared during the vine-pull schemes of the 1980s, Barossa's oldest Grenache vines were preserved, leaving us with some of the world's oldest continuously producing
own-rooted vineyards today.
Today, Grenache is celebrated for its vibrant fruit, elegance and versatility.
This month at Costplus +10%, we're featuring our 2023 Barossa Grenache - a wine made for every season. Enjoy it lightly chilled on a warm afternoon or savour it alongside a hearty meal by the fire during the cooler months. With bright red berry fruit, gentle spice and silky tannins, it's a wine that's equally at home with friends around the table or a quiet evening to yourself.
